Artist Reflection

I started transferring my animal sketches to the thicker paper using graphite transfer paper and began using acrylic ink to add value before using pen to add detail. for the bigger landscape piece I tested the composition using three 22x30 sheets of thin paper that I taped onto the wall next to each other to create one image. I'll be using three 22x30 sheets of watercolor paper to create the landscape image, and will continue to finish the animal pieces that I have before adding any more.

Artist Reflection

For this piece I wanted to test washes and blending with acrylic ink before using pens to ink the detail and texture. We agreed in class that this is the direction I will go in for the other animal pieces. I also used new paper which I plan to transfer the other pieces to before inking them. I would like to keep the textured edges to the paper. We discussed plans for the bigger piece. My plan, which I plan to explore in the coming week, is to test out the size I want to use and sketch ideas before finalizing it on better paper, which I plan to use 22x30 sheets of watercolor paper for the final. We discussed using gouache, ink, acrylic ink, and watercolor.

Artist Reflection: 

We further discussed exploring an environmental scene, preferably one to contrast the collection of animal close ups. The scale of this piece will be much bigger and in color. Here I explored some environments on the same scale as the others, and explored inking one of the many animal pieces to experiment with the ink and detail to see if this is the direction I want to go in. I started with a pencil sketch and shading with graphite, using a kneaded eraser to lighten everything and went in with my ink pens to create texture and detail. Going further I want to test using acrylic ink to help me capture washes of ink and a higher variety of tones/values. For the environment piece, I want to figure out what medium I want to work in. Right now, I am interested in acrylic ink, watercolor, gouache, and maybe acrylic.
